Living in Covenant
A Heart-felt Covenant
Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)
Jesus Teaches about Spiritual Discernment
Psalm 1 New International Version
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the onewho does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
thatthe wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
For Reflection
The will of God is that we are blessed. Blessed with the image of God. Blessed with free choice. Blessed with a point in our souls where Christ resides. Blessed with holiness. And yet we stumble. We fill our selves with prideful action. We allow our selves to be seduced by our own power. We squander our inheritance as a child of God and in doing so, suffer our trivial lives as useless as wind-driven chaff.
In spite of our missteps, we are always invited and welcomed into the family of God. We can choose to turn back to live in the light of Christ.
Pray
Pray prayers of praise for God who bears no grudge and invites us to stand again with God to live the truth of God's Grace.Note: Dyed silk banner by students at the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Montreat, NC, 2019
