The Highway for God

Assuring Hope
Comfort for Gods People

Isaiah 40:29-31 (The Message)
27-31Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
   or, whine, Israel, saying,
"God has lost track of me.
He doesn't care what happens to me"?
Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?
God doesn't come and go. God lasts.
He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
   gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get tired,
they walk and don't lag behind.

For Reflection
Isaiah's image of hope is expressed as a highway to home.  Each time I returned from a trip to or through West Virginia, as I crested the mountain at Flat Top, I 77 stretched out in front of me, a high way to home.  Home -- a place of comfort -- of support -- the familiar warm place -- a sanctuary.   Isaiah's words of hope ask us to wait on God's highway to  become energized and soar.  Think about someone who have offered you hope when you felt hopeless. Perhaps he or she was God's emissary.

Pray
that you will offer hope to someone who has little hope.  Pray for the care givers who selflessly offer them selves as conduits for God's grace.
