Alas, Poor Judas

Discipleship and Mission

Call to Ministry

Call to Remember

Matthew 26:14-16 The Message

14-16 That is when one of the Twelve, the one named Judas Iscariot, went to the cabal of high priests and said, “What will you give me if I hand him over to you?” They settled on thirty silver pieces. He began looking for just the right moment to hand him over.

For Reflection

Alas, poor Judas. He will never know peace in his lifetime.  While he lives, he will never know what it means to rest in God. Matthew says he repented.  In Acts, Judas does not repent but in remorse falls on his sword.  In both cases, Judas, so conflicted by his action commits suicide.

Poor Judas -- forever blamed. Poor Judas, may he rest -- forgiven in the presence of God.

Pray

Pray so that you will be more able to love as God loves.
