Great Harvest but Few Workers

Discipleship and Mission

Call to Ministry

Call and Mission

Matthew 9:35-38 The Message

35-38 Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!”

For Reflection

God does not desire that we travel through our lives aimlessly and confused about who we are and how we should cultivate each other. God calls each of us to be shepherds of each other and God's universe. Each of us is a minister in word and deed. We should take that call seriously. Our reward is compassion, love, and justice.

Pray

Pray for all who walk in the Way of Christ.  Pray so that you will be a blessing to all whom you encounter.
