Children Suffer for Adult's Sins

Responding To God's Grace

God is Faithful

Live in the light of God (Isaiah 2:5)

God Forgives

Numbers 14:31-35 New International Version
31 As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected. 32 But as for you, your bodies will fall in this wilderness. 33 Your children will be shepherds here for forty years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.34 For forty years—one year for each of the forty days you explored the land—you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.’ 35 I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this whole wicked community, which has banded together against me. They will meet their end in this wilderness; here they will die.”

For Reflection

Yes, our children have to bear the burden of our wickedness; our excursions into idolatry, our unwillingness to steward the gift of Creation, our reluctance to distribute the world's resources in such a way that we all can survive, our excuses for avoiding accepting or passing on grace, our tendency for placing self over the well-being of others, our tendency to turn to violence to resolve conflict. -- Need I go on?

God does not initiate this suffering. WE DO!  It is the natural result of not tempering our humanity with spirituality.

Pray
Pray constantly. Confess to God your incapacity for righteous living and be transformed by your admissions.
