My Help Comes from the Lord

Beyond the Present Time
Resurrection Hope
Hope Comes from God's Grace

A Pilgrim Song

121 1-2 I look up to the mountains;
does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
3-4 He won’t let you stumble,
your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.
Not on your life! Israel’s
Guardian will never doze or sleep.
5-6 God’s your Guardian,
right at your side to protect you—
Shielding you from sunstroke,
    sheltering you from moonstroke.
7-8 God guards you from every evil,
    he guards your very life.
He guards you when you leave and when you return,
he guards you now, he guards you always.

For Reflection
The only thing that holds us back from fulfilling God's intention for us is fear.  Is it the fear that one feels when he or she acts against the common cultural ways?  Is it the fear of separation from family, friends, or even mere acquaintances?  Is it the fear of the unknown?  Is it the fear that one will fail and fall from the grace of God?

God is your guardian.  If others reticule your counter culture ways, God, Christ and the Holy Spirit will comfort you.  If you are separated from family, friends or acquaintances, God will always be beside you.  God's grace never ends for those who act in obedience to His call. He guards you.

Pray
that the promise of God's unending support will sustain you.  Pray for conviction so strong that it wipes away fear.   Pray prayers of thanksgiving and praise for the gift of service to God.
